Ford began a solo heavy-metal career following the split of her group in 1979. Ford began vocal training and then released her debut album as a solo artist, 'Out For Blood'. This was followed by the release of 'Dancin at the Edge'. Ford went off the music scene for several months after the albums failed to make it into the charts. Her smashing album, 'Lita" which came out in 1988 saw her come back with a bang. The single 'Kiss Me Deadly' and the ballad "Close My Eyes Forever" were both big hits. Her success was not long-lasting, as she disappeared for several years. The album 'Black" album came out in 1995 and her 'Wicked Wonderland" release almost 15 years after. Her latest album "Time Capsule" was released in 2016. Guitar Player Magazine awarded her the prestigious Certified Guitar Legend Award.
